In keeping with the mergers and acquisitions in the semiconductor industry, Analog Devices has announced they will be acquiring Analog Devices for $14.8 billion.

From an engineering standpoint, this seems to be the easiest way to gain top engineering talent. Linear Technologies has some very good analog design engineers and it has been my experience that engineers from Linear Technologies rarely ever leave the company due to their compensation plans.

This seems to be a big win for ADI for a number of reasons.
